University Institute Tübingen

2002

In proximity to the main dining hall, the main lecture hall and venerable university buildings, on an inner city main street, a new building with lecture halls and seminar rooms, offices and laboratory space had to be designed. In contrast to the hetero-geneous neighboring buildings, a clearly articulated structure was developed, which expands on the ground floor with a large lecture hall to the rear. A hall with open staircase connects all floors in the intersection of the two wings. The office wing with wooden ribbon windows and dark cladding accompanies the tree-lined main street. In order to improve noise protection, an additional single glazing with open ventilation joints was built flush into the facade, still allowing the natural ventilation of the rooms.
