Student Apartments Augsburg

2011

2nd prize in competition 2009

At the edge of the university campus, 300 student apartments with 19 square meters each had to be planned. We concentrated the buildings in the northern part of the site, allowing future expansions to the south. Along the busy streets, 4-storey buildings protect the inner park-like area with its buildings of 2 to 3 floors. In the long buildings, all apartments are accessible by arcades and oriented to the quiet park area. Glazed bridges next to the staircases close the gaps between the buildings. At the entrance of the area, the houses frame a tree-lined square. Smaller courts follow the rhythm of the buildings. The smaller houses are staggered in grid pattern to allow a good light exposure of all residents' rooms. A dense net-work of paths runs through the entire student village.
